Expanding Cosmos™ Ring Holder

A unique ring holder with multiple ways to
secure a ring. Ring sizes 3.5 to 13 with only one
Cosmos™ collet. In other words, many sized collets are
not needed.
The photos below illustrate the Expanding Cosmos™ on
in a Lindsay PalmControl® vise.
The holder can be used on other brands of vises as well.

Use one of the Cosmos centers to secure a ring upright in
a vise for access to the ring edge.
The Cosmos™
collet allows its independent pads to be moved if desired.
This is useful if you are - for example drilling through
the ring and do not wish to drill into the collet.

Information
concerning Pin Plate hole sizes This holder fits the pin plates on the Low Profile Turntable vise, Goliath
and PalmControl® vises that use standard 1/8" diameter pins.
Let us know if the holder is to be used in the 90lb Titan
vise, we will provide the correct pins for it. Engraving vises
from the past used a larger pin hole, around .140" but
can vary
from that quiet a bit. Long ago this size was
selected because it
was a "nail size" (so that a nail could used for pins).
This was before precision dowel pins were readily available.
Engravers aren't using nails for pins anymore. If
you have a vise with larger than 1/8" pin plates and you'd
like to use our holder in them we can custom make pins for our
holder to fit your pin plate. It would be most accurate to
send us the pin plates you'd like to use this holder with.
Cost is an additional fee of $20. For this, just order normally, and in
the space provided for a note during checkout write that you'd
like the holder to be custom fit to your pin plates.
Then ship your pin plates to us. We will send them
back along with the holder order.
Another option in
the photo to the left is we have ready to go adapter pins.
Steve picked a middle of the road size for older pin
plates that use a nail sized hole and made these pins that
size. Since the older vises the nail sized pin
plates can rang a size was picked that should fit a lot of
the older vises. For a custom fit we can
custom make the pins as described in the above paragraph
if needed.
Practice Ring Blanks These
proprietary alloy ring blanks engrave and drill clean. No
stick or gummy cutting.
Set of three with widths of 6mm, 4mm and 2mm. Price works out to
$5.78 each, but they are only sold in these three piece sets. $17.35
Inside Ring Holder for Vise pin plates
Place
these in vise pin plates to hold rings from the outside, to
allow inside engraving, as well as access to the top of the
ring. They are made
from solid stainless and the faces are leather lined.

Titan Vise note: The screw hold down spacing for these
will fit the smaller 1/4" diameter screws holes in Titan vise
jaws, so these accessories will fit the Titan vise.
However, the two larger diameter screw holes in the top of the
Titan vise jaws could be utilized if a larger version these

Gun Cylinder
and Barrel holding attachment
The gun cylinder and barrel attachment will work
on the 90lb Titan vise, 30lb Goliath vise and the 16lb Turntable
vise. (NOTE: Also see the holder accessories at the bottom of this
page.) This new holder is rigid with a plain thrust
bearing that allows the center portion of the holder to spin.
The amount of spin resistance is adjustable anywhere from free
to fixed, set by the tightness of the vise jaws.

Single Action Amy cylinder.
The Lindsay cylinder holder will fit Colt's SAA cylinders
and when installing the included centers, will fit almost
every single action style revolver in existence. Using the
center points which are included, it can also be used to
hold other objects that have a hole at either end. In
addition, the center fitting portion can be custom made to
fit a particular cylinder so that it can be held without
the centers. If you prefer this, send the cylinder you
want to work with and the holder can be made to custom fit
it. It may also work to send measurements to us and we can
attempt a custom fit that way. It would be safest to
actually send the cylinder, but we will work with you
either way. However, a custom fit is probably unnecessary
because as mentioned the center points can be used to hold
about any single action style cylinder.
Knobs (handles) as well as an additional brake can be
custom made as needed. Generally the knobs are not needed
as the cylinder can be used as a place to grip in order to
turn it. Knobs might only create more obstacles which may
be in the way of your hand during engraving. Ditto with an
additional brake, making it more complicated then needed
and creating more obstacles.
Tip: After your object is placed in the jaws, the
fixture resistance is set by the amount necessary to
clamp the object. Clamp your jaw snug enough so the
cylinder does not turn while engraving, but not so tight
that you can not use your hand to turn the cylinder to a
new position while engraving. Then once it is set, it is
not necessary to tighten, loosen or adjust the spin
resistance while engraving around your cylinder or
object.

This bolts to your Lindsay vise and the cylinder holder
are bolts to it. Now place the included tapered centers over the center
pins. The barrel is then held between centers.
